OPM RECOGNIZES THE LAKE COUNTY FEDERAL EMPLOYEES FOR GENEROSITY IN LOCAL CHARITY DRIVE

Washington, D.C. -- In recognition of the generosity of federal employees in the Lake County, Illinois area, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management will present an award to the Lake County Combined Federal Campaign.

The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) is the federal government's annual workplace charity drive. In 1996, 90 percent of federal employees, servicemen and women, and postal employees donated nearly $200 million to thousands of charitable organizations across the country and around the world.

"The campaign is a model for workplace giving and exemplifies the generous and compassionate response of the federal community in the Lake County CFC to those in need," said OPM Acting Director Janice Lachance.

In addition to the Lake County campaign, 11 other local campaigns from across the country will be recognized by OPM.

The award-winning campaigns were selected from 409 local campaigns. Awards will be presented for highest percentage dollar increase; highest per capita gift; and highest participation rate in 1996 based on overall contributions.

The Lake County CFC raised $1,398,819 in 1996. The campaign had the largest percentage dollar increase in the $1 million to $2 million category.
